为何用fewer而不是less

There are visitors today than yesterday.

更多的游客用more visitors ,更少的游客为何就不可以是less visitors 或 no more visitors?

与more than相反的,不是less than或者no more than吗,如何会是fewer呢?

more是many和much的比较级。所以要区别二者。much可以是副词，many则只能是代词或限定词。所谓限定词much修饰不能数名词，many修饰可数名词。同理，限定词few或fewer修饰可数名词，限定词little或less修饰不可数名词。little还可以是副词，所以less than一般是状语。也有fewer than， fewer为代词或限定词。
