葛传槼的plan词条下有如此的内容：
下面各句里习惯用复数形式的plans，但并没“多少计划”的意思
I have made plans to spend the holidays with you.
复数名词不拥有复数含义，这是个奇怪的现象。同样种类的，我还注意到了holiday。
暑假是 the summer holidays/vacation，这里holiday明明和vacation并列，却用复数形式，我想这是一种固定的使用方法。
当指的是某年的暑假，同样也是用summer holidays，譬如
One night during the summer holidays Mr Gordon wanted a book.
但我去 必应 搜the summer holiday，同样找得到一些例句，而且有时用复数holidays非常奇怪，譬如 the coming summer holidays
所以，我想问两个问题，一是 the coming summer holidays对吗？能不能把holidays改单数。二是像plans，holidays如此的单词，老师能再举几例吗？

道理是：
1. “做计划”时，可以想到多种，经过反复斟酌后，最后只能确定1、两种。不可以太多。
2. vacation：是一个时间段的“假期”。A vacation is a period of time during which you relax and enjoy yourself away from home.
3. holiday：指“一天的假”，它仍然是一个 day。不是 a period of time。A holiday is a day when people do not go to work or school because of a religious or national celebration.
一般而言，holiday 用单数时，指一天的假；复数时指多天的假。
